SHILLONG, Feb 09: Where in the modern changing world processed food have been looked upon as a deterrent to for a healthy life, emphasis was laid on organic growth for sustainable farming at the National Agri- business Entrepreneurship Conclave held at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam.
Attended by over 500 participants and 33 Agri Business experts from all over the country the conclave dwelt upon issues of entrepreneurs, Innovative Farmers, Financial institutions, Consultants, Buyers, Scientists, Agri & Management Students, incubators, extension personals, Public representatives, policy makers and industrial partners.
“North East is the hub for organic agriculture and sustainable growth can only be achieved through organic farming,” said Political Advisor and Secretary to Chief Minister Allantry F Dkhar.
Dkhar further appreciated the efforts taken by ICAR in bringing a change in the cult of agriculture in the region.
Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Dr N Prakash, emphasized on the need to bridge the gap between the farmers and the entrepreneurs. He highlighted how ICAR plays a key role in providing the missing link between the stakeholders.
Principal Scientist Agri Business Incubation, Dr G. Kadirvel, ) briefed about the role of ABI in building budding entrepreneurs. He stressed that ICAR provides the much needed technical support for the start-ups.09`
The conclave intends to bring the buyers and the sellers in one place and provides a podium for expansion and provides an opportunity to sensitize the farmers about the scope and benefits of organic farming.
