Seminar on “Crime Against Women” held

SHILLONG Aug, 27: A two-day national seminar on ‘Crime Against Women: a North East Perspective’ in collaboration with North East Network, Shillong, was organized by Lady Keane College at the college auditorium here on Thursday.
The chief guest at the function was Ranjit Shekhar Moshahary, Governor of Meghalaya.

The Governor stated that human resources play a major role in contributing to the society and the nation’s development.
He said that the number of cases of violence against women is increasing at an alarming rate which is prompting even educational institutions to educate and train their students against this evil practice.
The Governor stated that women in Meghalaya are more assertive which would enable them to fight more effectively against violence.
G. Massar, principal of Lady Keane College, said that the college will be opening a guidance cell for students to educate themselves and fight against this menace.
The seminar will conclude on Friday.
