SHILLONG, March 17: Along with the rest of the nation, North East on Sunday grieved the demise of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. Parrikar was battling pancreatic cancer for more than a year and he died at his son’s home in Panaji on Sunday evening. He was 63.
The announcement was made in a tweet by President Ram Nath Kovind.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in a tweet wrote, “I express my deepest condolence to the family members of #ManoharParrikar on his untimely demise. May his soul rest in peace. In his death, we have lost a friend, a politician who had committed his life for the people.”
Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal tweeted, “Saddened to learn about the demise of former Defence Minister and Goa CM #ManoharParrikar ji. A people’s leader respected for his humility & immense love for the nation, his passing away has left a huge void in India’s public life. My sincere condolences.
Manipur Chief Minister, Nongthon Biren Singh, tweeted, “I share my deepest condolence to the family members of #ManoharParrikar ji on his untimely demise. May his soul rest in peace. In his death, we have lost a hard working leader,a politician who had committed his life for the people. It is a great to the nation.”
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Pema Khandu tweeted, “þDeeply saddened by the sad demise of Goa CM Shri Manohar Parrikar Ji. My deepest condolence to the bereaved family. May his soul Rest In Peace. #ManoharParrikar
