Meghalaya cricketers selected national camp, zonal tournament

SHILLONG, July 08: The All India Junior Selectors (AIJS) has selected Akash Kumar Choudhury of MCA for the U-19 players national camp to be conducted at NCA, Bengaluru from July 30 to August 30, 2018. The selection is based on his consistent performance for NADP/Bihar ZCA in inter zonal cricket academy tournament which concluded recently.

Further, Girls cricket in the state received a boost with selection of Daiaka Emigale Warjri and Deiphibapynshngain L Mawnai of Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) in the NADP/Bihar ZCA team for the inter zonal one  day Tournament for  the U-19 (Girls), to be held at Chennai from July 16 to July 25, 2018. Both girls hail from West Khasi Hills District Cricket Association.
“Meghalaya Cricket Association is extremely positive that this selection will give the much needed impetus to girls/women’s cricket in the state and is hopeful that schools will come forward to encourage the young cricketers. MCA is ready to provide assistance to serious interventions by educational institutes and affiliated district associations,” opined N. Bhattacharjee, Honorary Secretary, MCA.
BCCI has also raised match and a player representing the state in a particular age group can receive minimum Rs 50,000 in a season besides DA and free air travel, class accommodation, beside other benefits, he added.
