SHILLONG, March 15: Two and a half years of campaigning covering scores of rural villages, the Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) now stands battle ready with victory in their mind in the upcoming April 11 Parliamentary Poll.

“The party candidate started his campaigning around 2 and half years before and our candidate would give a tough fight to bigger parties like Congress sand BJP,” said KHNAM Chief and MLA, Adelbert Nongrum.

KHNAM is fielding retired IFS officer THS Bonney as its candidate from Shillong seat.

Acknowledging that the other parties are stronger in strength and numbers, he however added that the party this time is offering a good candidate and their candidate should not be taken lightly.

Informing that in the course of their campaign in far flung villages they came across people who believe that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the MP from Shillong, Nongrum stressed on the need to make people more aware about their MP and guide them not to vote for BJP.

“We have gone few villages and when we asked them who is the MP from Shillong, they said they  Narendra Modi .. So we need to create more awareness in the far flung areas of the state,” he said.

He reiterated that the party would raise the issue of long pending boundary dispute between Assam and Meghalaya as the issue has been left for many years.

KHNAM contested the recently concluded MDC elections in KHADC without winning even a single seat.
