SHILLONG, Aug 27: The Garo Students Union, Khasi Hills zone, has termed the recent incident at Central Agricultural University (CAU) as ‘unfortunate’ where certain candidates from the Garo community were prevented from attending written examinations-cum-interviews, conducted by the CAU at the ICAR Complex, Umiam on August 21 last.

The general secretary of the GSU, North Khasi Hills zone, RK Momin, informed the media that whoever was involved in the incident should have asked the candidates to furnish proper documents to prove their identity, at the very least..
The GSU will also write a letter to the authorities of the CAU requesting them for re-examination and re-interview so that eligible Garo candidates get a chance to appear for the examination.
Candidates who had come from all over the North East were prevented from appearing in the written examination-cum-interview.
The KSU and other NGOs of the state have demanded that indigenous locals be employed at CAU according to the job reservation policy of the state, including posts under C and D categories.
