Shillong, Feb 14: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was on Thursday received by thousands of people coming from all parts of the region at the Guwahati airport to welcome him ‘back home’.

Several members of National People’s Party (NPP) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) along with other people thronged the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International airport in Guwahati to welcome the “Icon of Northeast India” and other leaders for their efforts in stalling the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 from being tabled in the Rajya Sabha.

The NPP president termed the development as the victory of the people of northeast and said, “Sentiments of people and the voice of the people of the northeast have been heard.”
