SHILLONG, July 25: Reacting on specific information, the Border Security Force (BSF) deployed at Lukaichar area of West Garo Hills district on Tuesday night apprehended one Bangladeshi national while he was trying to infiltrate into Indian soil from Bangladesh with Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN).
According to BSF officials, the incident happened around 8pm.
The apprehended person has been identified as Md Maidul Islam (20) of Tapursul village, Bangladesh, officials said.
During search, the search party recovered Rs 53, 000 (FICN), one mobile phone with Bangladeshi SIM card, from his possession.
During the PQR, the apprehended FICN racketeer revealed that the seized FICN was meant for circulation in the Indian market and making the payment for the purchase of phensedyl and other psychotropic items.
During the past 3 months, BSF has seized Rs. 2,15,000 FICN along with one Indian and five Bangladeshi FICN racketeers.
BSF is keeping strict vigil and surveillance along the border area and is following effective intelligence network along the India Bangladesh border to nab the FICN racketeers.
