SHILLONG, April 13: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expressed its confidence that it will emerge victorious in the elections to both Lok Sabha seats in Meghalaya when the results are declared on May 23 next.

“Though a triangular contest was there, after we have put in our efforts, we strongly feel that victory will be in our favour and our candidates will win,” BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek said.

Hek said victory is definite as the party leaders and workers have worked very hard during the campaigning for the just concluded Lok Sabha polls.

The BJP which is backing NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government had fielded three-time South Shillong legislator Sanbor Shullai from Shillong seat and Rikman G Momin from Tura seat.

Apart from the opposition Congress, the BJP is also fighting against MDA candidates – Jemino Mawthoh of the UDP and Agatha K Sangma of the NPP.
