Assam Rifles wins coveted Commando Competition

SHILLONG, March 17:
The Second All India Police Commando Competition which began at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Diphu on March 12 last culminated Saturday with a grand closing ceremony in Diphu.
Police teams from all over the country representing their states and CPOs participated in the competition. The teams competed in physical endurance, combat firing skills, planning and conduct of counter terrorists operations.
Out of 22 teams who sweated out for the top honors, the Assam Rifles team bagged the first position, Second and Third positions were claimed by the Rajasthan Police and Maharashtra Police teams respectively.
The prize distribution ceremony was followed by some breath taking performances by Rajiv Gandhi Cultural and Dance Academy troupe from Manipur and then by the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School Jazz Band.
The Chief Guest for the ceremony Special Director Intelligence Bureau, Yashovardhan Azad reiterated the importance of the empowerment and integration of the Police forces sustained economic growth and overall development of the nation.
He congratulated all participants for their performances and he paid his special accolades to the winning teams for their high standards of professional competence displayed.  He urged all teams to learn from each other to fine tune their drills and procedures employed during operations.
