Ambulances reluctant to ferry patients during road blockades

NONGSTOIN, Sept 25: Owing to the night road blockade accompanied with various cases of arson and stone pelting incidents and the recent damages caused to the ambulance belonging to Nongstoin Regional Local Taxi Owner and Driver Association (NRLTODA), it has made all ambulances reluctant to ferry patients during the hours of night road blockade.

SHILLONG, Sept 25: In Meghalaya today right from the ruling party that is running the government, the opposition are trying breathlessly to occupy the CM’s chair. In one hand the congress led MUA-II is in a state of internal dissidence whereas on the other hand the opposition is throwing tantrums and statements about the government. And whether the congress dissidence members also have any backstage ‘handshake’ with the opposition is there to be reckoned with since this is nothing impossible in politics in the country and particularly in this state.

Petrol bomb hurled at Addl CS house, former KSU leader attacked

SHILLONG, Sept 25: A petrol bomb was hurled at the private house of Meghalaya Additional Chief Secretary (CS), Deb Burman on Wednesday night at around 11 pm by unknown miscreants.
The private house is located at Mawngap, Shillong, and is currently under construction.
Contractor of the house and former Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Ri-Bhoi, Vice President, Batkupar Nongrum alias Bobby, who was on his way to the site after receiving the news in his car, was pelted stones at in Langkyrding wherein the front windshield of his vehicle completely damaged.

Meghalaya’s ‘Forum of political parties’ threatens stir seeking ILP implementation

SHILLONG, Sept 24: The non-Congress political parties in the state – United Democratic Party (UDP), Hills State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) and National People Party (NPP) have threatened to launch series of agitations under one umbrella, christened ‘Forum of political parties’, to ensure that the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) takes place in Meghalaya.

I&B Minister assures to take up MEPA cause

To which, the Minister assured full support and address these issues in an expeditious manner.

Mother Mary sheds blood tears in Garo Hills

Shillong, Sept 24: In a miraculous incident Mother Mary was found shedding blood tears in Tura’s Rongkhon village. The village is located about 5 kilometers from Tura, West Garo Hills.
One Lakme Sangma found the statue with blood tears on Monday morning.

Rabid users of internet should be ignored: I&B Minister

SHILLONG, Sept 24: Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting (I&B), Manish Tiwari on Tuesday stressed that “rabid users” of the new age media cannot be controlled through legislation and the only way ahead is by ‘ignoring these tyrants’ and simultaneously having constant Government presence in such media sites.
Tiwari, who was in Shillong on Tuesday evening, revealed that the new age media has caused a lot of heartburns to the Government.
