SHILLONG, July 07: Inter - faith prayer for peace and communal harmony, which saw convergence of religious heads and followers of all faiths, was held on Sunday at Tura Parade Ground.
An atmosphere of fear and apprehension has been prevailing in Garo Hills in general and Tura and the plain belt areas in particular in the aftermath of the unfortunate turn of events on June 21 mob carnage.
TURA, July 07: The ongoing crisis within the Garo Hills region seems to be one that does not want to die down. While there was relative calm over the past few days, recent events have added fuel to the fire and things have gone downhill ever since. To further mash up the situation, the minority community within the Assam region has called for an indefinite blockade against the region due to the violence and death of people from their community.
Tura, July 06: Garo Hills has been going through a phase of uncertainty that has been threatening the thin balance of peace within the region. The peace which has been brokered for now by the District Administrations of both sides of the border was threatened again. The village of Monabari and its neighbouring areas once again came into the limelight on Saturday.

SHILLONG, July 06: In order to iron – out the vexed Assam – Meghalaya boundary issue, outgoing Governor RS Mooshahary has indicated his willingness to be the “mediator” between the two neighboring states.
The issue had created fissures and the problem has eluded solution despite innumerous meeting between the Chief Ministers, Chief Secretaries and other officials of the two states.
Just before his departure to Guwahati along with his family members from the Shillong Raj Bhavan on Saturday morning, Mooshahary told reporters that he is willing to be a mediator between the two neighbouring north eastern states to resolve the boundary issue which has been eluding solution for almost four decades.

SHILLONG, July 05: The outgoing Governor of Meghalaya, Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary, has been a Governor with a difference. He is one of the few Governors who have made their presence felt, not by extended tenure or flamboyant speeches, but taking actions and attempting to rectify lot of things.
Talking exclusively to Meghalaya Times on Friday, at the end of his illustrious tenure as he is supposed to vacate his office by Saturday, he said the role of Governor is very limited as he ‘does not govern’.
The Governor’s role is ‘only’ to advise or suggest. If they are not adhered to or not implemented, then he needs to roar. “So I roared,” exclaimed Mooshahary.
