Written by Meghalaya Times. Posted in Front Page

Staff Reporter
SHILLONG, Sept 29: Rubbishing Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma’s allegation that the opposition parties were adding fuel to the fire on ILP issue, the UDP instead advised the former to concentrate on constructing bridge and not wall to end the present impasse with the agitating NGOs even as it termed the allegations as  ‘nonsense’ and ‘childish.’
Recently Dr Sangma had accused the Opposition parties of adding fuel to the fire. He had said, “I have reasons to believe that they are adding fuel to the fire, and I have reasons to believe that they must be in close contact with these agitating pressure groups.”

MeECL’s joke on villagers of Garo Hills

Written by Meghalaya Times. Posted in Front Page

Staff Reporter
Tura, Sept 28: MeECL has always been lackadaisical when it comes to reforming themselves to better suit the people they serve. The same has been evident in the various initiatives it has taken within Meghalaya. However, what for now seems to be the worst part of their attitude, is the importance it pays to lighting villages to lighten the load of the rural populace. What has come to light is that in some areas of Garo Hills, electricity has been missing for about 25 days in a month, and the reason for it seems to be the fact that it has only one lineman for a stretch of road of about 40 kms.
