Shillong, March 31: While the Shillong city battles chaotic traffic and urbanization leading to congestion, there seem to be no immediate plans in the government think tank to de-congest the hill city and its roads.
And the worse is only feared as more attention is being given to Shillong, especially areas like Keating Road, Police Bazaar, Laitumkhrah and others, which are already reeling under heavy congestion.
SHILLONG, March 31: The CSWO has expresses its disapproval to the practice by the Banks and the various offices of the Government whereby many of the Government Servant especially women are made to work exhaustingly till late at midnight towards the end of the closing of financial year, march end.
TURA, March 27: According to Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, the electricity and water woes of the Garo Hills region would continue.
He said this during the felicitation programme for him and his cabinet colleagues organized by the ruling Congress party in Tura on Monday.
TURA, March 26: Tura, which has been a tolerant place for women who feel safe to take a walk even late at night, was rocked by a case of domestic violence and ostracism that came to light when Preeti Sangma (name changed) filed a case against her husband for violence, loss of dignity and ostracism by her in-laws.
The case came to light when Preeti, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, said she has been tortured by her Garo husband over the last four years and when she complained this to the local police station, the lady police officers allegedly humiliated her in front of others.

SHILLONG, March 26: Civil Society for Women Organization (CSWO) President Agnes Kharshiing was on Tuesday morning arrested from her house at Laitumkhrah.
She was arrested at about 6 am following a police complaint filed by the Meghalaya Secretariat Administrative Department (SAD) Deputy Secretary E Lyngdoh with the Sardar police station against Kharshiing for forcibly entering the main secretariat along with two other women without proper authorization. The complaint was filed on March 20 last under section 353, 447 and 180 of Indian Panel Code.
