SHILLONG, Sept. 02: The District Council Affairs (DCA) Department of the state government on Thursday approved the portfolios allocated to the new executive member (EMs) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) of KHUDA III.
The names selected as per the advice of Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pynshngainlang Syiem for the 11 EMs are Neil Antonio War, Lamphrang Blah, Irene Lyngdoh, JM Tynsong, O. Pamshong, M. Kharpran (INC), Remington Pyngrope, Teinwell Dkhar (UDP), LG Nongsiej (HSPDP) and Grace Kharpuri (IND).

156th birth anniversary of Sree Narayana Guru

SHILLONG, Sept 02: The Sree Narayana Guru Cultural Centre, Shillong chapter, will be celebrating the 156th birth anniversary of Sree Narayana Guru at Assam Kristi Kendra, Dhanketi, Shillong, on September 5.
Gracing the occasion will be Governor RS Mooshahary and Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Charles Pyngrope, among other dignitaries.
A number of dignitaries of the state and Central Government are also expected to be present at the programme which will begin from 10 am. The program will commence from 10 to 2 pm.

SHILLONG, Sept. 02: The decision on the NCP’s claim to forming the new executive committee following a five-month vacancy in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) will be declared by next week, District Council Affairs Minister, HDR Lyngdoh, has told the media.
The NCP on Wednesday urged Lyngdoh to allow forming the new EC and on Thursday, a delegation led by NCP Leader of Opposition, Conrad Sangma, met the minister for his approval.

SHILLONG, Sept. 02: MDC of Nongkrem and the then deputy CEM, Lambor Malngiang, has been appointed the chairman of the Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB) by Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma.
The move has surprised many as the post was being held by MLA of Rajabala constituency, West Garo Hills, Sayeedulah Nongrum.

Shillong, Sept. 02: Two bold instances of robberies have take place in Nangalbibra area of South Garo Hills in the past two days at two different petrol pumps. It has been reported that the robbers numbering around four to five and carrying two pistols, robbed the pumps at gunpoint and escaped on foot.
NRC petrol pump belonging to former IG of police, Skylance Momin, was the first to be looted of around Rs 50,000. The following day, the IOC petrol pump belonging to Marblin Marak was robbed of Rs 85,000.
