SHILLONG, Mar 27:
Commissioner of Excise, in his meeting held at his office chamber on Saturday has fixed May 15, 2010 for the implementation of the Holograms in all the liquor bottles being sold in the state, to check the leakage of revenue.
It may be recalled that, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister, incharge of Finance, Dr Mukul Sangma, on Friday during his presentation of Budget for 2010-2011, have proposed to introduce holograms in the sale of liquor in the state, to check leakage of revenue.

He also informed that, this step along with other measures is expected to generate additional revenue of Rs 10 crore annually.
In the meeting of the Commissioner of Excise, it was resolved that, the imposition of hologram will starts from May 15, and the meeting with the companies for pasting of holograms by the company when they supply the material was held earlier.
The imposition was sharply reacted by the Bonded Warehouses here, stating that, the bonders have to fixed holograms on the stocks left in the warehouses, and it was objected by the bonders.
The solution from the meeting resolved that the holograms has to be fixed on the remaining stock and one month time is allowed to clear the old stocks, that is up to June 15 and thereafter if any stocks is left, the company has to fixed hologram on that stock at the bonded warehouse or godown.
It was also decided that if the retailers have got stocks without hologram they will be allowed to clear stock within one month that is, up to July 15, and thereafter if the stocks are left without hologram the retailers have to fixed holograms at their own by purchasing the holograms from the commissioner’s office.
