SHILLONG, Mar 13:

Seven bullets that pierced the body of slain jailbreak ringleader Fullmoon Dhar during the alleged fake encounter with police might have remained inside his body.

According to Sub-Divisional Medical and Health Officer (SDMHO) Jaintia Hills Dr M Pde who conducted the postmortem on Fullmoon on June 2, 2009 told the Commission of Inquiry during the hearing on Shillong jailbreak that there were 11 entry wounds and one exit wound on Fullmoon’s body.

 

Dr Pde who appeared before the Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry retired Justice D Biswas during the hearing here on Saturday said that during the conduct of postmortem, three bullets were found from Fullmoon’s body – two in the chest and one in the abdomen.

However Dr Pde pleaded ignorance about the disappearance of other seven bullets since there was only one exit wound. "I don’t know where has the other bullets disappeared. There might be more bullets remaining inside the body of the deceased," Dr Pde admitted.

He informed that x-ray was conducted to ascertain the presence of bullets inside the body but it was done only from the abdomen and above adding that x-ray was not conducted from the waist down.

But Dr Pde said that the x-ray report could not be prepared as there was no Radiologist is available in Jowai Civil Hospital.

He also observed that the slain jailbreak ring leader must have been fired not from a close range.

"By looking at the way the body was pierced with bullets, the firing cannot be from a range within 18 inches since there was no blackening and no charring in the body," Dr Pde explained.

He also informed that the clothes that Fullmoon was wearing were handed to police but he could not recollect what kind of colour.

Civil Surgeon of Jowai Civil Hospital Dr E F Gatphoh said that no videography was taken when the post mortem was conducted on Fullmoon.

Meanwhile Ranikor BDO HS Diengdoh who went to the spot to conduct the inquest on the body of Fullmoon also appeared before the Commission during the hearing.

He said that during the inquest, he found that four bullets had pierced the body.

Diengdoh who was the Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) of Jaintia Hills when he conducted the inquest last year and told the Commission that Fullmoon was wearing plain green cloth adding that there was no independent witness present at the spot when he conducted the inquest except police personnel.

Telecommunication officials of BSNL GV Ramakrishnan and Aircell nodal officer Kangkan Lal Choudhury also appeared before the commission during the hearing.

Another hearing will be held on Sunday at 10:30 am in which two more witnesses called by the (SCAMOD) will be examined by the Commission.
