SHILLONG, Feb 26: The two days Ranikor Beach Festival 2010, organized by the Mawkyrwat Sub-Division Officers Welfare Association (MSDOWA) was inaugurated on Friday in a very extravaganza style, had attracted many visitors coming from outside the State.
The Festival was declared open by the IT Minister A.T Mondal as the Chief Guest in the presence of the Parliamentary Secretary of Tourism & Industry Dr P.W Khongjee who assist the Chief Minister was as the Guest of Honour, the Minister of PWD & C&RD, Local MLA M.M Danggo, MLA of Mawthengkut F.R Sangma, MLA of Mawkyrwat R. Lyngdoh and along the officers of the area.
In his address, Mondal encourages the people to exhibit more of such kind of festive and boost the economy of the State, he also said as the beginner we need to improve and put ourselves in the World map of tourism.
Speaking at the function Dr. Khongjee said that tourism maintenance is their chief agenda to bring back the richness and beauty of the area once again here in Ranikor Beach.
He also said that the MPA Government has done its finest in preparing the projects sent to the Central Government to achieve more Schemes, and attraction of tourist to this region, he also assure the people that the beach will be further develop.
