SHILLONG, Aug 29: A programme for felicitation of sports achievers in the National and Regional Tournament was held on Monday at Indoor Sports Complex, J. N. Stadium, Polo Ground, Shillong. The programme was organised by the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya. Meghalaya Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs, Zenith M. Sangma graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Gondagre wins pulsating final to conclude Red Horns Football tournament

TURA, Aug 28: Gondagre Football Club on Sunday beat a fighting Deosali Football club in the final of the Red Horns Football tournament held at the town of Tikrikilla to end the first edition of the tournament.
The tournament held over 444 days and through 67 matches ended with Gondagre winning with a 3-2 scoreline. The tournament was organized by the Red Horns Division of the army based in Tikrikilla and saw participation of 24 teams. A total of over 8000 people from various sections of the town of Tikkrilla and its neighbouring villages were witness to the final, with crowds being a major presence throughout the tournament.

SHILLONG, Aug 28: 24 Kung-fu men athletes of Meghalaya Kung-fu Association left Shillong and Tura on Sunday morning respectively for the 1st Manipur National Martial Arts & Festival, 2016 to be held from August 29 – 31, 2016 at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium Imphal, Manipur under the leadership of 2nd Dan Black Belt Master Thomas Rongthaluh and 1st Dan Black Belt Master Bronis Makri of Ri Bhoi District.

Lajong – Wahingdoh clash a goalless affair

SHILLONG, Aug 26: Shillong Lajong FC and Royal Wahingdoh FC played out a goalless draw on Friday at the JN Stadium Shillong.
Lajong started off brightly and earned the first corner of the match within 5 minutes and came close in scoring but Royal Wahingdoh defenders did well to prevent a goal.

SPL 2016: Lajong to play Rangdajied United FC today

SHILLONG, Aug 21: A new season of Meghalaya’s top football competition has begun with a new league sponsor coming in - Gionee Mobiles. Three matches have already been played, and the competition this year has become tougher with each team aiming to win the Gionee Shillong Premier League (SPL).
Defending Champions, Shillong Lajong FC who bagged the top honours in 2014 and 2015 will look to grab their third when they begin their Gionee SPL campaign against Randajied United FC on Monday at the JN Stadium at 3:30 PM.
