Korean Sports Infrastructure Experts pitches to aid Meghalaya

SHILLONG, June 08: While the state government is all pumped up to host the National Games in 2022, a delegation of the South Korean Sports Infrastructure Experts on Thursday proposed to develop the sports infrastructure here to international standards.
In line with this, the Korean delegation on a visit to the state made a presentation on the required Olympic infrastructure during a meeting chaired by the Minister in-charge Sports and Youth Affairs Zenith M Sangma. The delegation also met Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma and gave similar presentations.

Dobasipara locality bonds community with football and feast

TURA, June 04: In an effort to boost unity and sportsmanship in the community, the Dobasipara locality of Tura organised a month long football tournament to showcase the football talents of the area.
The tournament was unique as all the players from the locality were chosen through lucky draw and divided into six teams. The youngest player was 17 years old, while the oldest was around 50 years old.

Meghalaya cricketer in national camp

SHILLONG, May 15: The All India Junior Selection Committee of BCCI has selected Aryan Borah of Meghalaya Cricket Association for the U-16 players national camp to be conducted at National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru from May 22 to June 17,  2017.
Left arm spinner, Aryan Borah, has been shortlisted for the camp by virtue of his sterling bowling performance last season claiming 27 wickets for Meghalaya in the A&A Tournament and a rich haul of 23 wickets while representing the combined A&A team in the BCCI, Vijay Merchant Trophy (Under-16) tournament.

St Anthony’s edge West Jaintia Hills to win Assam Rifles CAPF U-19 boys’ title

SHILLONG, May 13: St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School lifted the maiden Shlur Nongbri trophy in the boys’ division of the Assam Rifles CAPF Under-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament for Meghalaya with a 2-1 victory over West Jaintia Hills District Sports Association in the final at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Saturday.
Umsning SC had won the girls’ final on Friday over East Jaintia Hills District Sports Association 1-0.
