Shillong, June 17: Meghalaya bounced back from two goals down to snatch a 2-2 draw in their girls’ Pool B game against Tripura on the fourth day of the Assam Rifles CAPF Under-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Saturday.
The other match of the day saw Nagaland’s girls whitewash Arunachal Pradesh 4-0 in Pool A.
The heavens opened around the start time of the 1:00pm match, but that did not stop Tripura’s Hena Debbarma and Anita Tancotla putting their side into a commanding position with goals in the eighth and 24th minutes respectively.
Tripura looked to continue their momentum in the second half, but after weathering some early attacking play, the rest of the match belonged to Meghalaya, who scored through their talismanic striker Pynhun Shulet.
SHILLONG, June 15: The Manipur girls’ team got their campaign off to an amazing start with a 7-0 victory over Arunachal Pradesh in Pool A of the Assam Rifles CAPF Under-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament Phase 2 in Shillong on Thursday afternoon at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Five of the goals were scored by N Ratanbala Devi, who dominated the forward ground and ran riot amidst the Arunachal defence. The other goal scorers were S Ranjana Chanu and A Roja Devi.
Shillong, June 11: Shillong Lajong Football Club has announced the long term agreement between the Club and 10 local boys from the Meghalaya State Under-15 Team that finished runners up in the recently concluded Sub-Junior National Championship held in Calicut, Kerala.
Following are the names of the 10 players:

SHILLONG, June 08: While the state government is all pumped up to host the National Games in 2022, a delegation of the South Korean Sports Infrastructure Experts on Thursday proposed to develop the sports infrastructure here to international standards.
In line with this, the Korean delegation on a visit to the state made a presentation on the required Olympic infrastructure during a meeting chaired by the Minister in-charge Sports and Youth Affairs Zenith M Sangma. The delegation also met Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma and gave similar presentations.
TURA, June 04: In an effort to boost unity and sportsmanship in the community, the Dobasipara locality of Tura organised a month long football tournament to showcase the football talents of the area.
The tournament was unique as all the players from the locality were chosen through lucky draw and divided into six teams. The youngest player was 17 years old, while the oldest was around 50 years old.
