SHILLONG, July 28: Shillong Lajong FC youngsters Rupert Nongrum and Konsham Chinglensana Singh have been signed on loan by ISL Team Delhi Dynamos for the 3rd Edition of the Indian Super League scheduled from October 2016 to December 2016.
Rupert who can play on the right wing or right back position, has been with Lajong since 2009. At Lajong, he has won the U-15 Manchester United Premier Cup India Finals in January 2010. He also won the U-19 Shillong Premier League in 2011, Shillong Premier League Super Division in 2014 and also captained the side in 2015 when they won the title again for the second consecutive time. He has also played for India in the AFC U-19 Championship Qualifiers which was held in Qatar in 2013.
He made his senior debut for the Club in the I-League 2014-15 season. His impressive performances caught the eyes of the Delhi Dynamos scouts who consider him to be an exciting talent for the ISL.
“I am a bit nervous as well as excited as it is my first stint in the ISL. I am really looking forward to train under the legendary Zambrotta and learn more about the game from him. To play for the senior team at Shillong Lajong FC last year and now Delhi Dynamos is such an honour. Good things are happening to me and I couldn’t be happier! I believe this is an ideal platform for me to perform and prove my worth to everyone. I know opportunities are very hard to come by and I am here to give my best shot and do as much as I can to contribute to the team,” said the 19 year-old Rupert.
Konsham Chinglensana Singh joined Shillong Lajong FC in the year 2015 and was a crucial member playing as centre back, in helping the Club retaining the Shillong Premier League title in his debut year. He made his I-League debut last season where he scored one goal in the I-League and another in the Federation Cup campaign. His performances caught the attention of the National Team Coach as well as Delhi Dynamos who made sure he would represent them in the ISL 2016 edition.
“I have worked very hard to make it to ISL and it is a matter of immense joy for me that I have been selected to play for Delhi Dynamos FC.
The club has shown time and again its willingness to believe in the youth and I think it is a great opportunity for me to play here and develop as a player as well as contribute to the team’s success. I have also been called up for a training camp with the senior national team and the experience gained there will also help me a lot in my new journey with the club” said Chinglensana.
“I am very pleased to have Rupert Nongrum and Chinglensana Singh Konsham in my team. It is my and DDFC’s priority to build a well-balanced team and our latest signings bear proof of just that. I have seen match footage of these players and found them very talented.  Was very sure that I wanted these two boys in my squad this season. I am happy that we have been able to sign them and I am sure they will be instrumental in our team’s success going forward,” said the head coach of Delhi Dynamos, Gianluca Zambrotta.
Delhi Dynamos FC President, Prashant Agarwal was also pleased with the signings and said, “We welcome the players to this club and are very pleased to have signed the talented duo.
We want to build a well-balanced team and with these exciting players coming on board, I believe we are heading in the right direction.
These are highly capable and gifted players, and I am quite confident that their contribution for the team will be immense in the upcoming season. They’re young, eager to perform, and hungry for success, just like DDFC is. We wish them all the best and hope that they will play a huge role in the upcoming season.”
