Lajong FC beings Federation Cup campaign against Bengaluru FC

SHILLONG, May 07: Shillong Lajong FC will begin their Federation Cup 2017 campaign on Monday when they take on Bengaluru FC at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack at 4 PM. The match will telecast live on Ten 2.
Groups for the Hero Federation Cup have been chalked out based on a respective Team’s position in the final Hero I-league table.
Teams finishing 1st, 3rd, 6th and 8th in the final table of the Hero I-League have been clubbed in Group A, while Teams finishing 2nd, 4th, 5th and 7th have been slotted in Group B.  Top two Teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals which are slated to kick-off on May 14.

St Anthony’s come from a goal down to beat Rangdajied, enter semis of Assam Rifles CAPF U-19

SHILLONG, May 05: Two scintillating goals from Freestar Kharbangar saw St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School come from a goal down to win 2-1 against Rangdajied UFC in a decisive Group B boys’ match in the Assam Rifles CAPF Under-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament for Meghalaya here on Friday.
St Anthony’s and West Jaintia Hills District Sports Association, who beat KV Laitkor by a massive 22-0 margin, progress to the semifinals, with Rangdajied out after two narrow defeats. Laitkor had lost their first match of the tournament to St Anthony’s.

Shullet, Khongwet blaze hat-tricks in Assam Rifles CAPF U-19 tourney

SHILLONG, May 04: Two hat-tricks were recorded on the fourth day of the Assam Rifles CAPF Under-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament for Meghalaya, both in girls’ matches, by Pynhun Shullet and I Khongwet of Umsning SC and Laitkor SC, respectively.
While Umsning won their second match of the tournament, beating Umiuh SC 7-0, Laitkor defeated Mawryngkneng SC 4-0 in the Group A games at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
It was no less exciting in the boys’ division, with Wahingdoh FC taking down Assam Rifles Public School 5-1 and Nongstoin District Sports Association overwhelming KV Happy Valley 8-0 in Group A.

East Jaintia Hills, Tyrsad Sec School win handsomely on Day 3 of CAPF U-19 football tourney

SHILLONG, May 03: East Jaintia Hills District Sports Association rode on four goals from Rushia Dkhar to register a convincing 7-0 victory over Lawsohtun SC on day three of the Assam Rifles CAPF Under-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament for Meghalaya at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.
In the other girls’ match in Group B, Tyrsad Secondary School defeated Mawpdang SC 5-0.
East Jaintia Hills found it difficult in the first half, only managing to get one goal past Lawsohtun’s excellent goalkeeper Farheen Warjri, who was called on time and again to make some wonderful saves, though she had to be substituted in the second half following an injury.

Assam Rifles’ CAPF Under 19 talent hunt begins

SHILLONG, May 01: In a bid to promote football as a sport in the Northeastern region, the Assam Rifles organized the CAPF Under-19 Talent hunt football tournament both for boys and girls, which began at JN stadium, Shillong on Monday.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Governor of Meghalaya Banwarilal Purohit said that the aim of organising the talent hunt is to popularize the game of football and develop both sporting skills and fitness in the game in Meghalaya, NE region and entire India. He also said that the tournament is also a prelude to the FIFA Under-17 world cup 2017 which will be hosted in India later in October.
