SHILLONG, March 25: Langsning FC and TRAU FC will face each other in the first North East derby of the Second Division League here on Monday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at 4:00pm.
This will be the first match in Group ‘C’ between two teams that can progress to the final round of the league (the Indian Super League reserve sides will only take part in the group stage) and both clubs want to come out on top.
Langsning and TRAU (Tiddim Road Athletic Union) of Manipur are the only two North East teams in this season’s Second Division.
SHILLONG, March 25: Swimming as a year-round activity in Shillong has become a reality with the launch of True North Leisure Centre, which boasts of the city’s (as well as the state’s) first controlled-temperature indoor swimming pool.
The leisure centre, located near the heart of Shillong in Mission Compound, was formally inaugurated on Saturday.
Swimming is a popular pastime, but, in Shillong at least, has always been limited to the short summer months. The launch of True North now opens up the opportunity for enthusiasts to enjoy one of humanity’s oldest leisure activities throughout the year. It also provides the chance for athletes and the wider population to recuperate from injury.
SHILLONG, March 18: After a terrific opening result that saw Langsning FC beat Chennaiyin FC reserves 2-1 on Wednesday, the Shillong-based side will next take on the reserves of Bengaluru FC in the Second Division League at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Monday.
Kick-off for the Group C fixture will be at 4:00pm.
Langsning beat Chennaiyin thanks to goals from tall Ivorian defender Lancine Toure and lightning quick local talent Kitboklang Pale. However, with a few more chances to score going awry, head coach Hering Shangpliang identified finishing as an area to work on.
SHILLONG, Feb 03: Shillong Lajong FC were defeated by Kolkata Giants Mohun Bagan by a 0-3 margin in the Hero I-League at the JN Stadium in Shillong on Saturday.
Dipanda Dicka opened the scoring for the visitors in the first half and it was Akram Moghrabi and SK Faiaz who scored in quick successions in the dying minutes of the game.
Shillong, Jan 22: Nongthymmai and Langsning qualified for the last two spots available in the U-16 Republic Cup with both sides registering their required victories in the final group stage games here on Monday.
In the early kick-off Nongthymmai came from two goals to one down to beat Umroh 4-2 in Group A, which saw them finish the round robin part of the tournament with seven points, tied with Little Star, but in front in second place on head-to-head.
