Akram’s injury time stroke seals victory for Churchill Brothers

Shillong, Nov 24: Injury time goal from the boot of Akram Moghrabi helped Churchill Brothers earn full points after they pip host Shillong Lajong by a solitary goal in the round seven match of the I-League here at JN Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon. With this win Churchill have 15 points in their kitty.
There was not much of action in the first half except in the 25th minute when unmarked Akram Moghrabi failed to control the volleyed ball by skipper Henri Arnaud A Rebienot. Had Akram controlled the ball and taken an aim at the net, the story would have been different; but the result remained 0-0 at the lemon break.


Changing over the side it was the Lajong who dominated the proceeding of the game, but the lady luck failed to smile over them.
In the 48th minute touring defenders stood tall as they denied Friday Gbneme, Lalchhuanmawia, Sushil and Eugeson Lyngdoh during a melee.
In the 56th minute Eugenson Lyngdoh volleyed the ball over the rival defenders and set it for Sushil Kumar Singh whose shot went for out – kick missing the target by few inches.
In the 64th minute, tourist came close to changing score card when Bineesh Balan volleyed the ball and Akram headed which went for out, kissing the far post.
In the 69th minute Jacob Lalrawngbawla took a long range powerful that landed just shot from outside the danger arc but the ball re-bounced hitting the wooden work.
As the match was on its way for long whistle Akram Moghrabi, taking a long try, found the back of the net and earned three points for his team and earned man of the match award for himself.
