Shillong, July 18: A reformed Langsning FC displayed a tight performance against MLP FT, beating them 2-0 on Wednesday. The addition of foreign striker Joel Sunday Ayeni appeared to make a significant change to Langsningâ€™s attack, as he and Mayosing worked in tandem.
Incidentally, the duo also scored a goal apiece to place their team in a comfortable position with a 2-0 lead.
Shillong, July 17: Goals by Beekay Bawar and Bickyson Kharkongor helped Royal Wahingdoh FC secure a comfortable victory against Shillong Lajong FC on Tuesday.
Playing as a unit, the Royals did well in maintaining composure throughout and scored two goals in the latter half of the match. Lajongâ€™s Boithang almost found his side a goal in the 42nd minute after taking a shot following a diversion, but Royal Wahingdoh FCâ€™s goalkeeper Saroj made a brilliant save to keep the scores at nil before halftime.
Shillong, June 17: The General Secretary of Shillong Lajong Football Club of Meghalaya, Larsing Ming Sawian on Tuesday said, development of football is not a one day affair. It takes up to six to seven years. He however, said that the club would make an all out efforts to raise the standard to the next level at the national level in the next three to four year, after grooming the young talents.
Speaking as special guest at a programme titled, â€œA Date with All India Radioâ€ organized by North Eastern Service of All India Radio, Shillong, hosted by the President of Shillong Press Club, David
Laitphlang, Sawian said the preparations are underway to tap the young football talents and also to sustain the game of football.
Tracing back the history of football in the North Eastern Region, Sawian said the region has produced great football players in the post Independence era and the vacuum was yet to be filled up till the 90s.
SHILLONG, July 16: Providing better platform for sportsmen in the state is the need of the hour, opined Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma while inaugurating the first general body meeting of the Meghalaya Rifle and Shooting Association (MRSA) at St. Anthonyâ€™s College conference hall, here on Monday.
Dr. Sangma who is also the chief patron of MRSA said that the state has a huge potential.
SHILLONG, July 14: The two day 5th East Khasi Hills Inter School Judo Championship tournament, 2012 organized by the Meghalaya Judo Association (MJA) in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs concluded here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, cabinet minister, AL Hek said that the students should get away with their anger and ego while they are on the game.
â€œJudo is a sport not meant for students to show off but it is for self defense,â€ Hek said.
