Shillong, July 30: Table toppers of this season’s Shillong Premier League (SPL), Rangdajied United FC fell to Nangkiew Irat SC 0-2 on Monday at the J. N. Stadium.
The loss means that Rangdajied United FC’s nine match winning run finally ended on Monday which could be blamed on a younger side being fielded. The move is most likely part of the Rangdajied camp’s strategy to rest their senior players for the upcoming games including the semi-finals, which they are virtually assured of reaching.
The resilient Nangkiew Irat SC displayed dominancy and ranked higher in terms of ball possession and shots taken throughout the match.
Shillong, July 29: In what turned out to be an extremely close contest, Royal Wahingdoh FC completed the league double over rivals Lajong to further consolidate their position at the SPL Top 2.
Lajong who are currently 6th in the table with 9 points opted to put out a strong side gunning for all 3 points.
However, it was RWFC who sprung the surprise as early as the 6th minute when Samuel Hmar's effort took a deflection and made it 1-0. Lajong attempted to regroup and get back into the game and in the 21st minute P.C.Lalhlimthara brought Lajong back on level terms.
Shillong, July 28: Two penalties scored by Marlangki Suting helped Malki SC make a comeback to draw against MLP FT 3-3 on Saturday at the J. N. Stadium.
The high-tension face-off saw MLP FT lead by two goals early in the game before they slipped. Kitkupar, who had been out with an injury before making a comeback in MLP’s last match against Lawmali Pyllun, scored the first goal in only the third minute by way of a well-timed chip shot.
Shillong, July 27: Friday’s game was a stroll in the park for Rangdajied United FC as they eased past Lawmali Pyllun SC by 7-2 goals at the J. N. Stadium, while also securing their ninth straight win in the ongoing Shillong Premier League. Argha Chakraborty and Babatunde both scored two goals each to ensure an easy win for their side.
Rangdajied’s first goal came in the 15th minute with Nagen sprinting along the right flank and sending a powerful shot past the keeper around 15 yards outside the box.
Shillong, July 26: Royal Wahingdoh FC scraped through with a 2-1 win against Nangkiew Irat SC on Monday despite some late jolts.
Starting off strongly, the Royals were forced to play on the back foot after Nangkiew began counterattacking in the latter stages of the game. Royal Wahingdoh FC opened their account in the 5th minute with Lalchawnkima delivering a shot past the keeper. Sena almost scored Royals’ second goal in the 8th minute after he dribbled past the Nangkiew defence and took a shot that was a few feet wide.
