U-14 team from Jowai all set for the Subroto Cup

SHILLONG, Aug 31: The Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai, PS Dkhar, on Friday organized a short programme at the Conference Hall to felicitate and wish the best to the players from two schools, Government Boy’s Higher Secondary School, Jowai, and Amwi Jarian Secondary School, Jarian (Amlarem) representing the State in the under-14 and under -17 category, in the Subroto Mukherjee Cup, which is slated to start from September 03 at New Delhi.
While congratulating the students, Deputy Commissioner gave words of advice to the students. He asked them to inculcate discipline on the field and be united among themselves.

Shillong Lajong FC rout United Sikkim FC to reach final

In what was the final league game of the JPR organized “North-East Lajong Super Series”, which was played at the J.N Stadium , Shillong Lajong Football Club produced a scintillating performance to outscore I-League newcomers  United Sikkim FC by 3-0.
Needing an outright win for a spot in the final against A-League side Wellington Phoenix, Shillong Lajong began the match in emphatic fashion with a 7th minute goal by Friday Gbeneme.

The Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Southern Zone, Baghmara organized a locality football tournament cum celebration of the Year of Youth-2012 at Baghmara Government Playground at Bolsal Ading, Baghmara from August 4 to 29.
This special occasion of football tournament program has been organized with the purposed of the celebration of the “Year of Youth”-2012 with the theme “dialogue and mutual understanding” by the GSU Southern Zone, Baghmara.

Wellington Phoenix FC thrashed Royal Wahingdoh FC with an impressive 3-0 win in an exhibition match that was played out at the JN Stadium Shillong on Wednesday.
The black and yellow brigade looked stunning throughout the match and displayed high quality performance with Jeremy Brockie scoring his second hat trick in the North East Lajong Super Series tour, which is being organized by JPR Events, and the first was achieved in Manipur when the A-League club played against Shillong Lajong FC on Sunday.

Wellington Phoenix FC Beat Shillong Lajong FC 5-2

In the opening match of the North East Lajong Super Series, the Australian A-League team Wellington Phoenix FC convincingly outclassed and trounced Shillong Lajong FC 5-2 to register its win.
Jeremy Brockie opened the account for Wellington Phoenix FC in the 16th minute after Louis Fenton, who again showed a powerful display, had combined with Paul Ifill to get him behind the strong Lajong defence.
Brockie who represented New Zealand in the 2010 World Cup, doubled the lead in the 42nd minute and completed his hat-trick in the 60th minute.
However, in its desperate efforts to make a impossible comeback and save some of its pride, the newly signed striker of Shillong Lajong FC, Friday Gbeneme found the back of the net in the 74th minute and netted the second goal for the Reds in the 84th minute.
