SHILLONG, Oct 15 : India may be out but hosting showpiece event like the under 17 World Cup is a great boost to Indian footballers and especially to the soccer loving states.
Football loving state Meghalaya has taken lot of inspiration from it as the state is rolling out its Mission football to nurture football talents in the state.
Meghalaya sports Minister Zenith Sangma said although India’s performance was not upto the mark but this will boost the morale of upcoming footballers.
“Although our performance was not up to the mark but yet we have only gained as the sporting event of this magnitude being hosted in our country will go on a long way to inspire budding footballers,” said Sangma.
Sangma suggested that the centre should develop more sporting infrastructure in the country.
The state is already on a mission under Mission football to identify, coach and produce soccer players of repute from the state.
In this line a coaching camp for coaches was also held recently wherein coaches were given a firsthand know how on coaching techniques by renowned coaches.
