Freedom Challenge Cup underway in Tura

TURA, Aug 06: Tura United Football club defeated Modynagar club with 3-1 goals in a thrilling knock out match of the Freedom Challenge Cup 2017 held Saturday evening at Chandmari playground.
 The match began on a high note with both teams playing their level field.
 The captain of Tura United Derian Ch. Marak scored the first goal in 16 minutes and boosted the morale of his teams, which lead to subsequent goals by Stiemly Sangma in 38 minutes.


 Micheal Momin of Modynagar club managed to score a goal in 40 minutes and ensured a touch competition for Tura United, however Lenikar Marak of Tura United strike a goal again in 42 minutes and ensured his team victory.
 The victory of Tura United in their first match has ensured that they are placed in the second round of the tournament.
 On Sunday, three matches were played for Freedom Challenge Cup.
 In the same venue, under-12 futsal competition is also underway, wherein five matches were played on Saturday and Sunday.
 The tournament kicked off on Friday and culminates on August 15.
