Korean Sports Infrastructure Experts pitches to aid Meghalaya

SHILLONG, June 08: While the state government is all pumped up to host the National Games in 2022, a delegation of the South Korean Sports Infrastructure Experts on Thursday proposed to develop the sports infrastructure here to international standards.
In line with this, the Korean delegation on a visit to the state made a presentation on the required Olympic infrastructure during a meeting chaired by the Minister in-charge Sports and Youth Affairs Zenith M Sangma. The delegation also met Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma and gave similar presentations.


The state Sports minister, Sangma stated that the government was looking at various options to ensure that the National Games infrastructure becomes properly used community assets which could promote revenue generation activities through sports tourism in the future.
It may be recalled that after the recent allotment of the National Games by IOA, the Working Group, constituted by the State government and chaired by Minister Sports has been functioning as the transitional team till such time the Meghalaya National Games 2022 Organising Committee is constituted after the signing of the host city contract the draft of which is awaited from Indian Olympic Association.
The renowned Chief Architect, Kim Nam-Hyun, and Senior Associate Lee Hyun-Suk (Jason), from SPACE GROUP Co. Ltd, South Korea along with their indian architectural consortium, INGRAIN, presented their credentials an vast experience in the concept, design, monitoring and building International Sports Infrastructure, showcasing the different themes an motivation adopted by them for designing the Seoul Olympics, FIFA World Cup and many other world class stadiums.
In India they are actively engaged with design and construction of infrastructure related to the new capital of Andhra Pradesh.
