24 athletes to participate in 1st Manipur National Martial Arts & Festival

SHILLONG, Aug 28: 24 Kung-fu men athletes of Meghalaya Kung-fu Association left Shillong and Tura on Sunday morning respectively for the 1st Manipur National Martial Arts & Festival, 2016 to be held from August 29 – 31, 2016 at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium Imphal, Manipur under the leadership of 2nd Dan Black Belt Master Thomas Rongthaluh and 1st Dan Black Belt Master Bronis Makri of Ri Bhoi District. 

The Martial Arts Council of Manipur is hosting this National Martial arts Games & Festival in Manipur and selected athletes will participate in the upcoming “World Martial Arts Council Games” from November 3 – 9, 2016 in Thailand.
There will be about 600 participants and 100 officials across the country units will take part in this Mega National Martial Arts Games Festival at Manipur. Unfortunately, Thomas Rongthaluh who missed the “World Martial Arts Council Games 2015” due to some technical snag in paper works and lack of financial assistance, Jarmin M Sangma who got Gold Medal in Nepal this year in March 2016 at the Jamosar Championship 2016 will also be taking part in 12 numbers of Black Belt in 1st and 2nd Dan respectively.
Disciplines to be conducted in this Manipur edition are: All Karate (All Styles) will compete in the Kumite platform; Tae-Kwon-Do in a platform of discipline; Kung-fu (All styles) full contact Karate, Muay Thai, Muay Boran, Mix Martial-Arts, Thai Boxing, Jeet Kune Do on a platform discipline; Thang-ta/ Cheibi will compete on a platform discipline; Indian Kushti Wrestling in a platform discipline; Meitei Mukna.
