SHILLONG, March 08: Royal Wahingdoh FC is all geared up for its 3rd attempt to gain promotion to the prestigious I-League. The team managed by Coach Volker Hofferbert of Germany has been training since November 1, 2012, and a strong squad selection has been made.

RWFC also had a strong 3 week training camp in Goa before moving to Indore where the qualifiers are set to begin from March 9 (Saturday). An opening game versus Mohameddan Sporting of Kolkata promises to be a mouth watering clash between the two sides that have regularly made it to the final round in the past two seasons.
However, the training camp in Goa was a good preparation in terms of getting adjusted to a hot climate as also friendly matches against the likes of Dempo SC, Sporting Clube de Goa, apart from a couple of Goa Professional League clubs.
Clubbed in Group B at Indore in what can be termed as the “Group of Death” RWFC will have to compete against formidable opposition including the likes of Mohammedan Sporting, Techno Aryan, Bhawanipore FC (all Kolkata), Aizawl FC (Mizoram), Green Valley SC (Assam), PIFA (Mumbai), Simla Youngs (Delhi) and Josco FC (Kerala).
It will be a very tough qualifying campaign at Indore as schedules are very tight.
The team plays a match every alternate day beginning sturdy and the Indore climate with its heat will be a crucial factor to contend with.
The pitch condition too at Indore is uneven and not very conducive for passing football and this too will play a key role. However, the team is upbeat and determined to overcome any obstacles in their quest for the final round to be held in Bangalore and Kerala.
