Manipur win in taolu, Haryana take sanshou title at AR 26th Senior National Wushu C’ship

SHILLONG, Oct 15: Manipur finished at the top of the taolu (form) table while Haryana were first in the sanshou (sparring) events at the Assam Rifles 26th Senior National Wushu Championship, which concluded here today.
Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) came second in both taolu and sanshou (68 and 27 points) on a sensational concluding day of the six-day tournament at the Assam Rifles Sports Complex at Laitkor.

One too many talents for Meghalaya

SHILLONG, Oct 15: Meghalaya has yet another feather to add to its wall of fame of those representing the country at an international level with the state’s ace kick boxer  Hame Shaniah Suiam beings selected to represent the country in the WAKO Senior and Masters World Championships to be organized in Budapest in Hungary from 3rd to 12th November 2017.
Suiam, who has 4 national medals to his credit, is the lone participant from Meghalaya besides 2 from Tripura and 5 from Sikkim to represent the country in the international sporting event. Apart from winning medals in the state and regional level, Suiam has bagged 4 national medals – 3 gold and 1 bronze.

Tura Football League to kick off on October 27

TURA, Oct 15: The District Football Association (DFA), Tura has announced the dates for the upcoming mega football event of Garo Hills – Tura Football League (TFL) 2017 which will begin from October 27.
 The organisers have asked all the affiliated clubs and associations of West Garo Hills to renew their club affiliation, player registration, inter-club transfer of players and submission of forms for participation by October 21.

Andrew Lotzem bags bronze in U-15 national Badminton Tournament

SHILLONG, Sep 24: Andrew Lotzem of East Khasi Hills District Badminton Association bagged the bronze medal in the Under -15 Boy’s Single at the All India Sub Junior National Ranking Badminton Tournament held at Tirupur, Tamil Nadu.
In the Quarter finals he defeated Novyaranjan Das of Assam 21-23, 21-14, 21-12.
He lost in the Semi finals to Pranav Gambhan of Telengana in deciding 23-25, 21-15, 21-11.
