SHILLONG, Dec 10: The 14th annual Mr. Meghalaya Body Building and 1st Miss Fitness and 1st Men’s Physique competition was held on December 9, 2017. Organized by the Meghalaya Body Building and Fitness Association (MBBFA), under the aegis of the World Amateur Body Building Association (WABBA) India, the event saw the participation of 22 participants in the body building event and 19 participants in the men’s physique.

Bijoy Deka of Assam wins Turathon 2017

TURA, Nov 12: More than 500 runners participated in the Turathon Hill Challenge on Sunday held at the National Highway – 44E from Jengjal in West Garo Hills to Megagre in East Garo Hills.
Organised by Tura Runner Club (TRC), the marathon had three different categories – 7 km glory run, 21 km half marathon and 42 km full marathon. It is for the first time that a full marathon was held in Garo hills, which had participation from different parts of the country including Ethiopia, Kenya and Nepal.

NETU to hold Taekwondo Black Belt exam in Shillong

SHILLONG, Oct 24: A Special General Meeting of The North East Taekwondo Union (NETU) was held in Shillong on Tuesday, in which major decisions were taken for promotion of Taekwondo in the region as well as more cohesiveness among the 8 Member State of North  East Taekwondo Associations.
As part of the action plan, Black Belt Examination would be conducted in Shillong and the 4th N.E. Zonal Championship would be conducted at Karimganj (Assam) on first week of December 2017.

Manipur win in taolu, Haryana take sanshou title at AR 26th Senior National Wushu C’ship

SHILLONG, Oct 15: Manipur finished at the top of the taolu (form) table while Haryana were first in the sanshou (sparring) events at the Assam Rifles 26th Senior National Wushu Championship, which concluded here today.
Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) came second in both taolu and sanshou (68 and 27 points) on a sensational concluding day of the six-day tournament at the Assam Rifles Sports Complex at Laitkor.

One too many talents for Meghalaya

SHILLONG, Oct 15: Meghalaya has yet another feather to add to its wall of fame of those representing the country at an international level with the state’s ace kick boxer  Hame Shaniah Suiam beings selected to represent the country in the WAKO Senior and Masters World Championships to be organized in Budapest in Hungary from 3rd to 12th November 2017.
Suiam, who has 4 national medals to his credit, is the lone participant from Meghalaya besides 2 from Tripura and 5 from Sikkim to represent the country in the international sporting event. Apart from winning medals in the state and regional level, Suiam has bagged 4 national medals – 3 gold and 1 bronze.
