Shillong, Nov 10: Deputy Speaker and Laban legislator Sanbor Shullai on Saturday distributed community materials such as blankets, mosquito nets, bed cover items and others to over 1000 BPL families of different communities residing within the 22nd Laban Legislative Assembly Constituency at a function held at Assam Club ground, Laban.

Sharat Yadav, national president of Janata Dal (United), who is also an MP and convenor of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on November 5 highlighting the issues of Loktak scam and also on the alleged nepotism, favouratism and corruption reeling at the State's Assembly Secretariat.
SHILLONG, Nov 09: The Meghalaya Peoples’ United Front (MPUF) Friday condemned the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) for granting the No objection Certificate (NOC) to the Nilanchaal Cement Company which is proposing to set up its factory in East Jaintia hills district despite strong oppositions registered by different social organizations of the region.
“We strongly condemn the district council authority for granting such permission without taking into consideration the views and opinions of the different social organizations of the region,” MPUF president D Wanmi Laloo said in a press statement here.
He said, the organization is against setting up of cement factory by the company in the area which is already dominated by cement companies as this will further destroy not only the environment but the health conditions of the people living in these areas.
IMPHAL, Nov 09: The road repairing work being carried out by Border Road Organization (BRO) along National Highway-37 (Imphal – Jiribam road) would be completed by December 2013, assured Lieutenant General S Ravi Shankar, PVSM, VSM, the Director General Border Roads (DGBR) on Friday.
Shankar visited the headquarters of 25 BRTF at Lamphelpat in Imphal on his way to Aizwal. He was received at the Imphal Airport by Brigadier Arun Joshi, Chief Engineer (Project) Sewak. During his brief stopover at Imphal, the DGBR reviewed various road development works, met all ranks of 25 BRTF and had an informal interaction with the media.
