HNYF-MSDC – WR demands upgradation of U Tirot Sing Memorial College

SHILLONG, Nov 08: The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front – Mairang Sub-division Circle and Western Region (HNYF-MSDC - WR) Thursday demanded the state government to upgrade U Tirot Sing Memorial College into a government college in South West Khasi hills district.
In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma here on Thursday, HNYF said, “The college deserved to be upgraded into a government college as it will cater to the many rural students especially those coming from poor family background, solving the problem of getting admission in the colleges in Shillong.”

Mooshahary asks students to be honest, truthful and innovative person

Shillong, Nov 07: The Golden Jubilee celebrations of Little Flower Secondary School, Malki Shillong was held on Wednesday at the school premises where the Meghalaya Governor R S Mooshahary graced the function as Chief Guest.
Mooshahary, while delivering his speech, congratulated the organizers for being the best organized programme that he had attended. The programme was seamlessly progressive and the performance of the students was remarkable, he added.
He also stated that perhaps the biggest achievement to be celebrated would be to mould the character of a student to be honest, truthful and innovative person in future.

JYF to file PIL against Cement Co if found flaunting norms

SHILLONG, Nov 07: The Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) Wednesday threatened to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against Nilanchaal Cement Private Ltd that is proposing to set-up its plant in the district if it is found to ‘violate’ the many environmental norms and regulations.
Nilanchaal Cement Private Ltd is proposing to set up its cement manufacturing company in the already cement dominated areas of East Jaintia hills district, the public hearing for which was conducted by the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) on Wednesday.

Anna to start anti-corruption movement from Nov 30

Guwahati, Nov 07: Anna Hazare will start nationwide movement against corruption from November 30.
The anti-corruption crusher announced in Guwahati on Wednesday.
“I will start nationwide movement against corruption from November 30 and will form a core committee,” Hazare said.
 “Jana Lokpal bill must be introduced before next general election,” he asserted.

GSU-EZW demands redressal to pertaining problems in Garo Hills

SHILLONG, Nov 07: In a memorandum to Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, Garo Students’ Union – East Zone Williamnagar (GSU-EZW) Wednesday demanded the state government to address the various problems pertaining to medical facilities, education and road infrastructures affecting the region.
“We demand government to look into the various grievances faced in the different sectors right from medical facilities, education, roads and communication which was lying unattended for so long,” GSU-EZH president RR Marak said in the memorandum.
