Shillong, Nov 27: World Vision India, East Khasi Hills Project is organizing a music-based event “Ieng Iada”, at Jongksha village, East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya, on World AIDS Day, December 1, at 1pm.
As an organization known to have invested in the life of children and youth, World Vision has been working in the state of Meghalaya for the last 16 years. Its East Khasi Hills Area Development Programme, sees the need to persuade children, young people and other adults in Jongskha and the entire Mawkynrew block to respond to the issue of HIV and AIDS.
Shillong, Nov 27: The Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) has undertaken computerization of energy billing system of Tura town and its adjoining areas under R-APDRP Scheme and as such consumer survey of these areas is underway.
This information was given in the interest of the consumers here by the Chief Executive Officer, West Garo Hills Circle, MePDCl, Tura.
He informed that the survey works have been entrusted to M/S Tata Consultancy Services, Kolkata, who in turn have engaged surveyors for the purpose. The names of the surveyors are Subrat Kr. Sarma, Nitul Boro, Dhrubajyoty Barman, Sengjrang Sangma, Earnico N. Sangma, Kasrang T. Sangma, Ripon Hajong, Bappi A. Sangma, Rakesh Barman and Dinrak Wasa D. Sangma.
Their work involves GIS survey and consumer survey including inspection of the connected load (electrical installation) of the consumer premises, among others and general public have been requested to extend their cooperation to these surveyors.
Shillong, Nov 27: Meghalaya Minister, Health & Family Welfare, Rowell Lyngdoh Tuesday inaugurated the new building of Byrnihat PHC which was constructed under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Scheme at Byrnihat in the presence of Chairman of MEDC and local MLA, J.D Rymbai.
Shillong, Nov 27: The Department of Social Work, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), Shillong has decided to adopt Mawpun Kshaid, Umiam, Ri Bhoi District, Meghalaya with the purpose of bringing development work in the community along with the active involvement and participation of the community at large.
The Objectives of adopting the community is to enhance the community’s health awareness, improve the community’s educational aspirations, promote hygiene and cleanliness in the community, and act as a liaison agent or networking agency for developmental work.
The community will be formally adopted by MLCU on December 1 at 11 am.
Shillong, Nov 26: The two – day ‘Regional Workshop on Seed Programme for North East Hill States’ aimed at transforming regional farmers’ dependent attitudes into the self –sufficient ones in the area of seed production of the important crops grown in north eastern states began on Monday at ICAR Research Complex for NEH region Umaim.
“Such type of training provided by the technical experts of ICAR will bring farmers closer to attain own food security, and will improve age – old agriculture to the new destination. It is the dire need of the regional farming,” stressed Meghalaya Additional Chief Secretary B Wazri, while speaking at the Chief Guest of the programme.
