East Garo Hills conducts orientation training for poll officers

WILLIAMNAGAR, Jan 12: Gearing up to the ensuing Assembly elections in the state, East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner (Election), conducted orientation training for the sector, presiding and polling officers here in Williamnagar at DRDA Hall No.1 on Friday.
Conducting the training, Deputy Commissioner, Ram Kumar, highlighted the vital roles played by the sector, presiding and polling officers in conducting elections and informed that they are the important part of election machineries. He also informed that it is the primary duty and responsibility of the officers to ensure free and fair poll in their respective polling stations.

During the training, Ram Kumar also highlighted about the election duty certificate and postal ballot and asked the sector officers not to give any wrong information to the polling officers without consulting the Returning Officer. He also informed that hands-on training on Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT) will be conducted five times before going to the polls.
