RKM VP visits historical Laban House

SHILLONG, Sep 03: The Vice-President (VP) of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Head Quarters,  Belur Math, Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj visited the historical House at Laban where Swami Vivekananda stayed during his Shillong visit in 1901, on Tuesday last amidst a large congregation of devotees and followers. The new secretary of RKM, Swami Sarvabhutananda Maharaj also accpmpanied the VP along with other monks of the Ramakrishna Order.

The VP who was on a 5-day visit to the city paid rich floral tribute below the plaque, which reminisces the stay of Swamiji. During his interaction, the owner of the house informed the history behind this property and his desire that RKM should take up the property. The property though is mired in a litigation, it is informed that one of the litigants is absconding and the court has sent him notices for the third time. As per law such cases can be disposed of exparte when a party does not respond.
The Vice-President acknowledged the fact that there is a huge demand from the public, followers and devotees about the taking of this poperty by RKM.
