Grievance against siphoning of money at examination centre

Written by Meghalaya Times. Posted in Letter to Editor

Editor,
As you are aware that at present different competitive examinations are being conducted online. Recently a new Examination Centre namely Ion Digital Zone located at GS Road Quallapatty Shillong – 02 is identified as one of the examination centres for conducting online banking examinations.

In this regards, through your esteemed daily, I would like to bring to the notice of the concerned authorities that this centre has been charging money from the candidates for keeping their belongings viz. mobile, bags, helmets, etc. For many of us who appeared for various exams conducted at this centre were surprised and in a dilemma since we had to pay an extra amount of Rs. 50/- (Rupees Fifty only( when we had already paid the examination fee which amounted to Rs. 600/- (Rupees Six Hundred only) while applying for the exam and there was no prior notification on the Examination Call Letter for such extra payment. We don’t know whether it is the exam centre or is it the banks which are responsible for the act? Since no receipt is issued to the candidates to authenticate and support such act? So it leads us wondering where does the money collected from (aprox. more than 200) candidates in just a single shift goes. Hence we would like to seek clarification on this matter from the concerned offices conducting these examinations.
However, we experienced that while sitting for different online examinations in other centres no such extra charges are imposed for keeping out belongings. In this regard, we humbly request the concerned authorities conducting various online examinations to kindly look into the matter and do the needful so that the poor and unemployed candidates’ interest will not suffer.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
Affected candidates
