Syiemlieh nominated as Chairman BJP’s Political Affairs

Shillong, May 07: The State BJP President K.S Lyngdoh has nominated H.S Syiemlieh as the Chairman of Political Affairs Committee of the Party. 
Syiemlieh will play a key role in the party for the upcoming Lok Sabha Poll for both the Parliamentary seats.

Stop ‘hunting’ for our members: KSU to government

SHILLONG, May 06: Talking tough, Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Monday asked the state government to stop ‘hunting’ for its members and immediately release its members arrested recently failing which the union will be compelled to resort to other courses of action.
The statement came after the KSU leaders submitted their statement to the police at Mawlai police station with regards to the April 4 last vandalism incident during the procession of the union.

KSU calls for two-day night road blockade

SHILLONG, May 06: With the 24 – hour deadline served by the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) long gone for the release of their two arrested members in connection with the vandalism case at Laitumkhrah on April 04 last, the Union on Monday announced a two-day night road blockade from May 10 to May 11.

Setback for Mahanta in land – grabbing case

SHILLONG, May 06: The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) on Monday passed an order to ‘reverse’ and ‘set aside’ an order passed by a lower court last year, granting relief to state’s Additional Advocate General SP Mahanta in a land grabbing case.
The order came following the First Appeal filed by Tushar Nath Bhattacharjee - a retired employee of the public works department in Australia at the higher court against the order passed by Assistant Deputy Commissioner last year.

HABSCA accuses KHASI of fraudulently running ‘teer’

SHILLONG, May 06: The Hynñiewtrep Archery Bookies Social and Cultural Association (HABSCA) on Monday come out strongly against the Khasi Hills Archery Sport Institute (KHASI) for allegedly collecting illegal fund and fraudulently counting points in the daily archery competitions (teer) of various clubs held at Polo.
