SHILLONG, June 15: Self appointed Chancellor of the controversial CMJ University, Chandra Mohan Jha on Saturday sought state government’s intervention to ensure early resumption of academic activities of the University even as he accused the actions taken by the Governor, also the Visitor for the varsity, as nothing but a ‘personal grudge’ against him.

While the fight has been on to get their dues, the citizens along the border have complained of something that is even more acute – their work being stolen by neighbors from across the border.

Two minors molested by labourers in SGH

Tura, June 15: After West Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills and East Garo Hills, it was now the time for South Garo Hills (SGH) to bear witness to crimes against women first hand. Two minor girls, sisters by blood, were molested by three youths, working for the National Border Co-ordination Committee (NBCC). The incident happened at broad daylight and in the house of the girls themselves.

Petrol prices to rise by Rs 2 per litre

New Delhi, June 15 (IANS): Petrol prices will go up by Rs.2 a litre, excluding taxes, from midnight of Saturday due to the depreciating rupee and hardening of international prices.
Taking into account local sales tax or value added tax (VAT), the effective price for consumers will work out to Rs.66.39 in Delhi, Rs.73.79 in Kolkata, Rs.74.60 in Mumbai and Rs.69.39 in Chennai.

Three IEDs recovered in Assam

Guwahati, June 15: Security forces recovered three powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) in Assam’s Kamrup and Udalguri district on Saturday, police said.
Police recovered two powerful IED’s weighing three kilograms each at Boko area in Kamrup district along the Assam-Meghalaya border.
