SSA salaries delayed due to late release of second installment by HRD

Shillong, March 31: The Central flagship programme of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) which is a Mission to achieve Universalization of Elementary Education (UEE) in a time bound manner is being implemented both in letter and spirit in Meghalaya, official sources said here on Sunday.
Much prior to SSA School Teachers threatening to close down the schools, if their demands for salary enhancement and payment of pending salaries are not met by March 30, the Education Department and the State Project Office, SSA, had in fact made a request as early as December last year, to the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) for the speedy release of second installment to facilitate payment of all pending dues.

Meghalaya celebrates Easter

Shillong, March 31 (IANS): Christians in Meghalaya Sunday joined their brethren the world over in celebrating Easter.
Cathedrals and other churches in the Christian-majority state were thronged by believers for the special mass and other celebratory events.
It was a day of coloured Easter eggs and buns all over the state.
Archbishop of Shillong Rev. Dominic Jala presided over the Easter mass at the Grotto Chapel in the Mary Help of Christians Cathedral here.

Qualified Grade IV candidates general meeting today

SHILLONG, March 31: The general meeting of the association of qualified Grade IV 2011 candidates, East Khasi Hills District will be held on Monday at 10 am at the Khasi National Dorbar hall, Mawkhar, Shillong.
All the members and the applicants who have passed the exams have been requested to attend the same.

CSWO disapproves ‘late night work’ during March end

SHILLONG, March 31: The CSWO has expresses its disapproval to the practice by the Banks and the various offices of the Government whereby many of the Government Servant especially women are made to work exhaustingly till late at midnight towards the end of the closing of financial year, march end.

NCW organizes session on Women and their Legal Rights

Shillong, March 31: The National Commission for Women (NCW) in collaboration with State Resource Centre for Women, Shillong and Social Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya organized a one day Interactive Session on Women and their Legal Rights. The session was held on March 28 last at Yalana Hotel.
