NEHU staffs oppose bringing HASA in Academic Council meeting

SHILLONG, May 28: The teaching and non-teaching staffs of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) under the banner of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Tuesday decided to strongly oppose the move of their Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof AN Rai to bring the issue of Hill Areas Special Allowance (HASA) in the forthcoming Academic Council meeting scheduled to be held on May 31.

Court quashes appoint of Jyrwa as SRCW Mission Director

Shillong, May 28: The Meghalaya High Court on Monday quashed an order for the appointment of Loma Jyrwa as Mission Director of State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW).
Passing judgment on a writ petition filed by Angela Rangad and represented by H S Thangkiew, N Mozika and Associates, challenging the appointment of Jyrwa, retired Deputy Director of Social Welfare Department, the Bench of Justice T Nandakumar Singh said the appointment of Jyrwa to the post of Mission Director is “invalid or illegal”.

Father seeks Court’s consent to kill self, children

SHILLONG, May 28: A father, who has been struggling to ensure his ailing three children get the required treatment to survive from a disease for sixteen years long, on Tuesday decided to knock on the door of the Court seeking its permission to commit-suicide and ending the life of this Children as well.

BSNL’s misery to continue in Garo Hills

However, things are unlikely to change as BSNL struggles to get its show on the road. Currently, coming through as a dawdler amongst the telecom companies, BSNL is set to lose more customers and even more revenue as the telecom giant struggles to get its batteries charged up.
