SHILLONG, Oct 21: President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday asked the Meghalaya Government to engage in dialogue with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and settle issues, as these groups are an integral part of the Indian democracy and express views of the people.
Addressing legislators at the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Mukherjee during his maiden visit to the State as President said apart from the Parliament and State Assemblies, independent judiciary, a free press and civil society are equally important for India’s democracy to sustain.
