Cremation ground cleansing by Seng Khasi held

Shillong, April 28: The Seng Khasi (Kmei) Mawkhar, Shillong Cremation Ground held its annual cleansing Programme on Sunday at Jaiaw Cremation Ground.
The programme was inaugurated by Home Minister Roshan Warjiri in the presence of other members.
The programme witnessed a large number of youths participating with enthusiasm from different Seng Khasi units of Shillong and the suburbs. The Lum-Jingthang Committee of Seng Khasi (Kmie) expressed its gratefulness to all those who took part in the programme.

Over 500 pigs die in Mizoram due to Swine Fever

AIZAWL, April 28: Over 500 pigs have died in Mizoram due to swine fever in the last two months.
According to report from Animal Husbandary and Veterinary department officials, the number of pigs died due to the endemic "Classical Swine Fever"  has crossed 500 mark since the month of March.
Officials said, the endemic swine fever caused the death of as many as 465 pigs in Aizawl district alone, while another 11,163 pigs are reported to have been infected with the disease. More than 200 piglets of the New Land Use Policy (NLUP) beneficiaries also had died due to the disease.

One murdered by miscreants

SHILLONG, April 28: Four unidentified miscreants in two trucks bearing registration number ML-05E-5156 and ML-05H-4907 went to a shop belonging to one Betiful Nongsiej at Lailad Quarry, South West Khasi Hills district and murdered one truck driver on the spot.

SCBPU reconstitutes executive body

SHILLONG, April 28: The Shillong Cantonment Board Pensioners Union (SCBPU) on Sunday re-constituted the executive body of the union.
The new office bearers are: President- RG Pradhan, General Secretary- JK Kar, Joint Secretary- Indira Meharaj and Ram Joshi as the Treasurer.
The general meeting also discussed various issues faced by the pensioners and resolved that actions will be taken against the problem and will also be addressed to the higher authorities of the board.

2500 people attend BSF’s CAP in Garo Hills

SHILLONG, April 28: The Border Security Force (BSF) manning the border areas on Sunday organized a Civic Action Programmes (CAP) in the border area of Dalu in West Garo Hills and Shibbari in South Garo Hills district of the state.
The programme was chaired by BSF IG, Sudesh Kumar.
The Nokmas of all the villages, Principals of all Schools, and other officials of the State administration also chaired the programme along with the IG BSF.
