AIJIF alleges major scam in transportation of extracted coal

SHILLONG, May 22: Citing a RTI report, the A.chik Indigenous Justice Initiative Forum (AIJIF) has opined that there is a major scam in the transportation of extracted coal in Meghalaya and has as such approached the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma seeking an inquiry into the whole affair.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister on Tuesday, AIJIF director Alex K Sangma said, “It is imperative on the part of the state government to take necessary initiatives in investigating into a scam of such humongous volume in order to persecute the guilty and do justice to the common masses of the state.”

Meghalaya to start working on infrastructure for National Games

SHILLONG, May 22: Moving ahead with its schedule for hosting the National Games in the year 2022, Meghalaya will start construction of the required sports infrastructure within this year as was informed by Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh on Tuesday.
Lyngdoh said that the government is working hard to ensure that construction of all sport facilities and infrastructures is completed within the stipulated time.

Don’t’ dare think of breaking NPP – UDP relationship: Shylla

SHILLONG, May 22: Championing the strong bond between the National People’s Party (NPP) and its coalition partner, the United Democratic Party (UDP) to which he belongs, Revenue Minister Kyrmen Shylla has asserted that nobody should even dare think of breaking up this relationship.
Shylla had made this statement while addressing election rallies at Murchapani and Garabokmangre under Ampati constituency.

Lyngdoh to seek Conrad’s help for fund crunched sports department

SHILLONG, May 22: Meghalaya Sports Minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh has informed that the sports department is low on funds and the department will propose that the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma who also holds the finance portfolio increases the allocation of funds for the department.
Lyngdoh said this while reacting to a question on the increasing demand of sports associations looking for financial aid to represent the sate and the country at the international arena.
