Congress terms attempted parley with HNLC as illegal

SHILLONG, Nov 22: Meghalaya Congress spokesperson, Ronnie V Lyngdoh has lashed out at the BJP for bypassing the state government and allegedly attempting to initiate an unauthorized peace process with the proscribed militant group, the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).
Two persons who claimed to be members of ‘Art of Living’ landed in police net for arranging an ‘unauthorized’ meeting with the HNLC.

HNLC lauds AOL efforts towards brokering peace

BJP contemplating action after arrest of party member

SHILLONG, Nov 22: While asserting that the Meghalaya Government should have been informed, Meghalaya BJP spokesperson, JA Lyngdoh on Wednesday said that the state BJP will sit and discuss the future course of action following the arrest of one of its party leaders from Jaintia Hills along with the member of Art of Living for trying to hold unauthorized peace process dialogues with a proscribed militant group the banned militant outfit the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).

BJP Mahila Morcha slams poor implementation of Central schemes

SHILLONG, Nov 22: The implementation of Central schemes in Meghalaya is not up to the mark according to the BJP Mahila Morcha National General Secretary, Pooja Mishra who has slammed the Congress led state government here for this.
Mishra who is on a 5 day visit to Meghalaya said that banks in Meghalaya are asking  people to deposit Rs  500, 1000 and Rs  2000  to  open their   jan dhan accounts which is not the case  in other parts of the country.

UDP announces names of 3 more candidates

SHILLONG, Nov 22: The United Democratic Party has announced the names of three more of its candidates who will be contesting the upcoming state elections in 2018.
According to the UDP general secretary, Dr. Jemino Mawthoh, Mangara Pathaw, the son of former Chief Minister, JD Rymbai will be contesting from Umroi constituency, Nujor Sungoh, the son of former MLA Mihsalan Suchiang will be contesting from Mookaiaw constituency, and Nehru Suting will be contesting from Pynursla constituency.
