Scheme of employment on compassionate grounds approved

Shillong, Nov. 24:

A state cabinet meeting headed by Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Wednesday approved a scheme for employment on compassionate grounds in the state as per the recommendations of the Fourth Pay Commission with effect from Wednesday.

 

Speaking to the media after making the decision, Dr Sangma said that the cabinet has decided to carry out the scheme of employment on compassionate grounds with effect from Wednesday. This has come as per the recommendations of the Fourth Pay Commission, he said.

Affirming on the applications, Dr Sangma asserted that the pending purpose for appointment on compassionate grounds would be judiciously cleared through single window clearance.

The chief minister also said that the government has given six months time to the relatives of government employees who have passed away till today.

The scheme to appoint a wife, son or daughter of a government employee if the employee dies in harness has been in force since the inception of Meghalaya.

Meanwhile, the cabinet also approved the draft ‘Meghalaya Tourism Policy 2010’ and gave 15 days time to stakeholders to submit their suggestions.

Dr Sangma added that the policy is the most thorough and eye-catching to make Meghalaya the most adored tourist destination in India.

The chief minister also said that the cabinet has approved to include more items in the Chief Minister’s Special Urban Development Fund too.
