Its Modi again in Gujarat, Congress bags Himachal

Ahmedabad/Shimla, Dec 20 (IANS): The score was one all in the crucial battle for political stakes Thursday with a hat trick of wins in Gujarat for Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Narendra Modi, who virtually equaled his 2007 tally, while the Congress wrested power in Himachal Pradesh.
In Gujarat, the BJP was poised to bag 116 seats, one less than the 117 it won last time, missing a two-thirds majority in the 182-member house. The Congress was set to get 60 seats, one more than 2007's 59.
Former BJP chief minister Keshubhai Patel's Gujarat Parivartan Party (GPP) was left with two seats, including his own.

ANVC(B)guns down GNLA militant in clash

Shillong, Dec 20: One Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) cadre was shot dead while other two were severely injured in a gun fight with A’chik National Volunteer Council – Breakaway (ANVC-B).
Sources informed that the two militant outfits exchanged heavy fire around Thursday afternoon at Rongdok Village in West Khasi Hills, bordering South Garo Hills, near the Simsang River.

RBSU demands probe into four - laning project at Umsning

SHILLONG, Dec 20: To re-look into the matters pertaining to the controversies over the proposed construction of the four-lane project from Umsning By-pass by introducing the project from the existing – National Highway (NH) 40 citing that the land acquisition proceedings which has already expired the Ri Bhoi Students’ Union (RBSU) on Wednesday demanded the state government to set up a ‘committee’ to re-look into the matter.
The demand came after the High court recently disposed off the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the union with regards to the matter.

All IMFL licensed premises (wholesale and retail sale), Bars, Canteens, Country spirit shops including Outstill shall remain closed on the above mentioned dates.
