IRSSCC celebrates Advance Christmas Musical Concert

SHILLONG Dec 22: The Ieng Rasong Sports Social and Cultural Club organized an Advance Christmas Musical Concert on December 19 last at Shillong Club Ltd Residential Quarters.
The programme was a huge success and the club has expressed its gratitude to Pastor P R Diengdoh, MLA A L Hek, businessmen, companies and other patrons who helped make the programme a success.
The club has also wished the people of the state a very merry christmas and a prosperous new year.

Sohiong Police Outpost inaugurated

SHILLONG, Dec 22: State Home (Police) Minister, HDR Lyngdoh on Saturday inaugurated the Sohiong Police Outpost.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Lyngdoh said that the Police Outpost is the long felt need of the people of the area and with the advancement of time it has become a necessity to have a police outpost at Sohiong.
The Minister informed that the Sohiong Police Outpost was carved out of Mawngap Police Outpost and its jurisdiction will cover 63 villages of the area with a total strength of 8 police personnel which includes two officers, one head constable and five constables.

Selection procedures for Khasi Film Awards commences

SHILLONG Dec 22: The selection procedure for the first ever Khasi Film Awards has commenced with a total of 40 entries received by the organisers on December 15 last.
As per rules for nominations to all categories of the awards, the shortlisted entries will undergo preferential voting through ballot in which members of the direction branch, writers branch, technical branch and music branch comprising of 6 members each will vote to nominate the finalists who will compete for the 17 categories of awards.

Security forces to concentrate on Garo Hills this election

SHILLONG, Dec 21: State Director General of Police, Kulbir Kishan Friday said that almost half of the paramilitary forces asked from the centre will be deployed in the five districts of Garo Hills (GH) which are infested by militancy problems to ensure that the upcoming State election is not disturbed.

SOT imposter duo arrested

SHILLONG, Dec 21: City police Friday arrested two persons for their involvement in posing as personnel of the Special Operation Team (SOT) besides indulging in robbery and kidnapping cases. Addressing a press conference here, East Khasi Hills Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Vivek Syiem said, “After investigating two reported cases, we were finally able to zero-down on the culprits.”
