One ANVC (B) linkman apprehended

SHILLONG, Dec 23: One ANVC (B) linkman was apprehended in joint operation carried by the Border Security Force (BSF) and state police force deployed in West Garo Hills district on December 19 last.
According to BSF officials, the apprehended person has been identified as Errit N. Marak (21).
“Marak was nabbed at Gopinathkilla market area and he is a resident of Kawahagiri village in South West Garo Hills,” official said.
One mobile phone, one spare battery, one SIM card, four blank goods receipt slip and Rs. 1,062 was recovered from his possession.

MYF conducts Advance Christmas Programme

SHILLONG, Dec 23: The Meghalaya Youth Foundation (MYF) in collaboration with the Dorbar Shnong Laitkor (Rngi) conducted an “Advance Christmas Programme” at Laitkor (Rngi), East Khasi Hills District on Saturday.
More than 450 Children from Laitkor and three Anganwadi centres along with local residents participated in the day long programme. MYF distributed clothes and prizes to the residents of the locality.

11 NLFT insurgents surrender in Tripura

Agartala, Dec 23 (PTI): Eleven insurgents of outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), including dreaded militant Suren Debbarma, have surrendered to security forces and deposited arms and ammunition, police said on Sunday.
Nine ultras including Suren Debbarma and his son Hoku Debbarma have yesterday surrendered to Border Security Force (BSF) at Karbuk, a village near the Indo-Bangla international border and deposited one AK-47 rifle, one revolver and one grenade, the police said.

AIZAWL, Dec 23: Mizoram chief minister Lal Thanhawla, who met Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on December 19 last in the latter’s office, informed the Union minister about the delay on the part of the Union ministry in sending 'high power committee' members for setting up of Horticulture College in Mizoram.

Media signs MoU on journalist killings

IMPHAL, Dec 23: Members of Manipur media fraternity under the aegis of All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) on Sunday took up Prime News channel correspondent Thangjam Nanao's killing case with chief minister O Ibobi Singh late this afternoon.
The chief minister and the media fraternity signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in which a three-member team to investigate into the killing of the journalist is one of the agreement.
