7 kg of ganja seized

SHILLONG, Dec 29: The BSF troops deployed in South West Garo Hills district on Thursday last seized seven kg of Ganja while it was being smuggled into Bangladesh, officials said.
The estimated cost of the seizure is worth Rs 35,000.
The officials also said that the smuggler, however, managed to escape the scene.
It is pertinent to mention here that it has always been the endeavor of BSF to keep a strict vigil and deny any smuggling of psychotropic substances/ narcotics/alcohol to Bangladesh and in this task BSF is also seeking the help of BGB.

One succumbs after being severely injured

SHILLONG, Dec 29: One twenty five year old, Clayraj Pde succumbed to injuries in a private hospital on Friday morning after being severely assaulted by miscreants on December 26 last, police said.
According to the police the incident happened near Challam building near Paltan Bazar area.
“Pde was a daily wage worker and on the night of the incident, miscreants attacked him,” police said.
Police are investing into the matter to nab the culprits.

Sit-in protests demanding arrest of NSCN-IM militant

IMPHAL, Dec 29: Hundreds of people staged sit-in protest at two different places in Imphal on Saturday demanding arrest of Livingstone, a self-styled Lt Col of NSCN-IM, involved in the alleged assault/ molestation case of film actress Kh Momoko at a musical event at Chandel recently.
Film Forum Manipur, Manipur State Shumang Leela Council along with various social organizations organized sit-in protests in front of the office of FFM, Lamphel and Uripok Khaidem Leikai.

Laban youth week culminates with message of love and brotherhood

Shillong, Dec 29: Working towards wrapping up the society with love and brotherhood this winter, a weeklong activity filled with sports, merrymaking and music was organised by Seng Samla Laban (SSL) which concluded on Saturday amidst a breath taking musical evening at the Laban Sports Club premises.  
Songs, dances and various traditional and cultural performances from members of the SSL and others rocked the celebration to the tilt. Addressing the gathering at the concluding function of the celebration, Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Bindo M Lanong said, “It is a noble initiative of the SSL towards strengthening the society.”
