Shillong, Dec 22: ANVC(B) has assured the public that the peace will not be disturbed during the ongoing festive season, even as it affirmed that it was ‘still open for talks’.
The outfit also expressed its gratitude to the citizens of Garo Hills for showing solidarity on December 20 last in remembering the brave warriors of the soil. “We are truly taken up by tremendous support and cooperation of the people,” the Breakaway faction’s Chairman Rimpu Marak said.

“We assure no harm to the public and peace is assured from our side during the festive season,” he declared.
He also stated that security in Garo Hills should be relaxed as the outfit does not want unwanted situations to crop up and reiterated “We assure peace this Christmas and the new year”.
Rimpu was of the opinion that the Government should acknowledge the breakaway faction’s role as an organization instead of trying to make enemies out of it.
“State is vulnerable to forces that are beyond the present network of ground intelligence and anything can happen as accessibility is still possible,” he cautioned adding “this cat and mouse game will affect the lives of public and common man if greater care is not taken care of at this stage.”
